About Ilana

Ilana Pearlman grew up on the coast in Half Moon Bay, California and divides her time between the United States and Belize (Central America). She currently stays home with her son, Ezra, born June 12th 2009, while scheduling prenatal and postpartum visits with clients in the evenings and being on-call for births.

Ilana also volunteers with the labor and delivery department at St. Lukes Hospital and with San Francisco General Hospital's volunteer Doula program. She is a hopeful applicant to University of California San Francisco's Midwifery and Nurse Practitioner program. Her passion is to serve families.

Ilana puts her Community Studies degree to good use by actively volunteering with grassroots organizations within the local birthing community.

Hospitals and Organizations Ilana volunteers with:

Birthwork Mother's Collective: A networking group Ilana formed for mothers who are involved in birthwork as midwives, doulas, childbirth educators, prenatal/postpartum yoga instructors, etc. 

San Francisco General Hospital Volunteer Doula Program: Education Committee

Ilana teaches the following at doula trainings:

•  the role of the postpartum doula in the home
•  the impact of intimate partner violence on the postpartum period
• communication skills

Teenage Parenting and Pregnancy Project: Teacher for the Hilltop school for pregnant teenagers

• Teaches birth and postpartum classes for pregnant teenagers and matches teens with volunteer doulas when requested.

St. Lukes Hospital: Volunteering in labor and delivery since 2009, working alongside midwives, doctors, and nurses.
